Dr. Milton Moore – Founder

Dr. Milton Donald Moore, Jr. is a dermatologist whose practice generally focuses on the treatment of minorities and the dermatological conditions and diseases that disproportionately affect at risk population.  In addition, Dr. Moore is the founder and President of Moore Unique Skin Care, LC, a company that develops, produces and markets a line of skin care products designed and targeted towards the maintenance and treatment of dermatological conditions and diseases that disproportionately affect minority populations. As a result of his medical training, his years of dermatological practice and his experiences related to Moore Unique Skin Care, LC, Dr. Moore has become aware that many members of minority communities as well as the health care professionals have limited or incorrect information regarding the diagnosis, treatment and treat ability of many conditions and diseases that disproportionately affect minority populations, both dermatological and otherwise.  It is Dr. Moore’s belief that by utilizing his medical and marketing knowledge and experience as the goodwill and professional connections that he has developed through his practice and business that he can establish awareness campaigns that will save lives and improve the quality of living for afflicted individuals.  Educating customers and health care providers about these conditions will dispel the myths and rumors that lead to ignorance, lack of knowledge and understanding of these life threatening diseases

Dr. Moore’s deep concern for the disparities minorities face prompted him to form the Foundation for Health and Dermatology Disparities (FHDD).  The purpose of the foundation is to provide public service information,  and serve as a resource for health care professionals and treatment centers.  The goal of the FHDD is to heighten awareness around these specific conditions; educate minorities and health care providers and dispel myths and rumors about related issues impacting these communities that lead to ignorance, lack of understanding and in some cases death and or life threatening diseases.

Dr. Moore also works in cooperation with the Houston Police Department to provide its Officers who suffer from Pseudofolliculitis Barbae access to dermatological products developed specifically to address the debilitating skin condition. This professional relationship, which exclusively utilizes patented products developed by Dr. Milton D. Moore, results from HPD’s desire to provide treatment modality for its Officers, and, to address concerns that the revised grooming policy poses employment barriers which unfairly target African-American men, who are more likely to suffer from PFB. HPD’s revised ‘First Responders’ Guidelines require Officers to maintain clean, close shaves as a grooming standard.
